Living… – A Short Poem

LIVING

If this is Wednesday, call mom, call Wendy, turn in homework, reserve camping site at Yosemite.

If this is Wednesday, write the paper for the English 11 class. The teacher said, “do not use my paragraph in your prose, find one of your own!” As we left hastily in the dark winter night.

Drive by Macy’s for some make-ups. The mixed smell of the fragrances makes me feel nauseate, Lancome, Chanel, Christian Dior, etc. Wonder how the salesladies survive. Get to the bank to deposit the paycheck if possible.

Time to send out all the gifts. The line at the post office is a good way to practice some patience. A box of candies for mom and dad An alloy golf collection for the boss. Have to do this each year.

A nice way to stay alive is to think less. Less brain cells consumed, longer the life. Mom once said that it’s hard to be famous and wealthy because you would have to sacrifice part of yourself, physically or mentally. Is that right.

If this is Wednesday, get up early in the morning. There is History class at 8 o’clock in the morning. And another one at 9 o’clock. Have to get ready for a possible quiz. The teacher seems to enjoy it while we are tortured.

Driving in the morning traffic feels terrific. All the nice cars, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, all have to stop in the big long parking lot stretching hundred miles long. No wonder no speeding hero is available at Policeman’s mercy.

If this is Wednesday, the second History class ends at twelve. No time even for a short break. Guts and Butts starts at twelve. Lots of sweat. A fruitful lunch after can drain all the exercises in vain. Nothing but low-fat to eat. Wonder how others keep so lean.

One English class in the afternoon. Like reading poems, but not writing one. Unfortunately, one due next Monday.

Pick up the tickets for the Phantom of the Opera. The coupon from Tower Records saved $10.

The toilet paper has run out. Need to go to Price Club. Maybe some chicken and eggs. Some people say that egg has too much cholesterol and should eat less. Always question what the papers say.

Call J and ask her to join the trip to Yosemite. Oh, don’t forget to reserve the camping site. After the flooding in winter, it’s really hard to find a nice camping ground now. Should borrow a tent and buy several flashlights, too.

The coupon for oil change will expire the day after tomorrow, make sure call them and ask for a possible extension. If not, take the car there before 5. It should feel much better to be rich, ’cause you don’t have to worry about coupons. Maybe worry about getting more money.

The light in the closet went out. It’s the kind of cheap, hard-to-find type, which has only a “110V” mark on the top. Have to find out where to get a replacement because in the lease says “the tenant will take care of all the electrical appliances, including the refrigerator.” Looking forward to a rent control.

Last week bought some dresses at Ross. Some of them were “so ugly”, according to B. Should return them before losing the receipt.

Make sure pay the insurance premium. After the accident last year, it went up 20 percent. Well, the new law requires the stupid insurance in order to renew the registration, another premium have to pay.

A friend called saying that there is a sale going now at Emporium, everything 40% off.

The air is clear and chilly. The sky is gray. The heart is still beating.

Most of the friends have got online recently. It’s hard to reach someone without hearing the busy humming sound. Everyone is busy. Too busy too busy too busy to take care of himself or anyone else.

If this is Wednesday, go to the bank and get some quarters for laundry.

If this is Wednesday, it’s time to relax tonight.
